You’ll need certain Pokémon to battle gym leaders in ‘Let’s Go!’
It’s no longer as simple as walking in and challenging the gym leader!
‘Let’s Go Pikachu!’ and ‘Eevee’ will apparently require players to meet certain requirements before they can battle gym leaders.
What are those requirements? It looks like you’ll need certain types of Pokémon, specifically Pokémon that hold an advantage over the gym leader’s Pokémon.
You can see the requirement in action from a screen cap of the game’s recent trailer below:
This particular instance shows the player entering the Pewter City Gym to challenge Brock. The greeter at the front specifies that the player will need Grass- or Water-type Pokémon before they can face the gym leader. Brock specializes in Rock-type Pokémon; Grass- and Water-type Pokémon have type-advantages over Rock-type Pokémon.
Well, that’s no fun. But the game will presumably include a wider selection of Pokémon available earlier in the game, giving the player several options.
It seems to me that this will require players to switch out their Pokémon more frequently than they might have before. I’m unsure of how to feel about this bit of news at the moment — is it just me or does this feel a bit watered down for young players?
Thanks, Hypable for the heads up!
